The National Labour Institute (INT) conducted in 2023 the first national survey on working conditions in Algeria, covering 4,200 households in 48 wilayas and 12 sectors of activity.
Among the main findings: 72% of workers are exposed to at least one occupational hazard, 38% suffer from postural constraints, and only 41% of companies have an occupational physician.
The survey also reveals that the construction sector concentrates the highest workplace accident rate (24.3 per 1,000 workers), followed by the extractive industries and metallurgy.
These results will form the basis for the development of the next National Occupational Risk Prevention Plan.
